Alex Fischer started Open Bookkeeping in 2012 to bring a social justice perspective to bookkeeping & organizational finances. They believe that financial literacy is critical to building economic justice and creating truly democratic organizations. Alex prioritizes supporting collectively-oriented business and organizations with leadership comprised of queer, trans, & POC folks. They are a self-taught bookkeeper and hold an MBA in Managing for Sustainability from Marlboro Graduate School in Brattleboro, VT. Outside of OBK, Alex spends a lot of time building community around racial justice through their work with The Root Social Justice Center. They bring games and a liberatory approach to financial management.
